Several cities in Larimer County offer residents the opportunity to get a refund on the sales tax paid on food the previous year. This rebate can add up to be very valuable, for example in Fort Collins a family with 4 household members would receive $232! Please pass this information on to any friends, family, or neighbors who may qualify to receive these valuable refunds.
The City of Fort Collins offers a rebate of $58 per a household member to qualified residents to help offset the cost of sales tax paid on food during the previous year. This program runs from August 1st through October 31st each year. The rebate is designed to assist low income individuals, families, and seniors who lived within the Fort Collins city limits for all of 2014 and still live within city limits at the time of application. Qualifications are based on annual household income - to see if you qualify to receive this rebate and to download the application please click here. You can also call United Way of Larimer County 2-1-1 at 970-407-7066 to have an application mailed to you.
The City of Loveland provides the Food and Utility Sales Tax Rebate program on a first come basis to individuals and families who qualify, based on the HUD median area income guidelines as well as requirements set by the Loveland City Council. This program is held during April and May of each year and the application will be available at this time.
The Town of Estes Park offers a Food Tax Refund program to qualified residents. This program is available during the month of May each year, budget allowing. Additional questions may be directed to 970-586-5331, Press 0.
