I left Michigan and moved to Colorado in 1993 to give my life a bit of a kick start. After graduating from Michigan State University in 1992, I managed a record store, which quickly lost its appeal (It's not as cool as it looks in the movies!). I landed a job in Fort Collins working at KTCL as an overnight disc jockey while spending my days selling shoes at a sports equipment store. I soon ended up in sales at the Coloradoan, and in 1999 began fundraising at United Way of Larimer County (then the Fort Collins Area United Way). I've spent the last 15 years in nonprofit development before starting at Kaiser Permanente in May of 2014. KP believes strongly in investing in the communities it serves and I have the privilege of overseeing those investments for Larimer and Weld County.
I'm passionate about a lot of things, but mainly I care about making my time here meaningful, for myself and others. I care about giving back, whether that be through volunteering or donating financially, to causes I believe are making a difference in my community. I care about making sure the people in my life know that I love them, and while I'm a high-functioning introvert and deeply value my time alone, I aspire to be a good and caring friend, daughter, niece and colleague to my family and friends.
I'm kind of like that saying - "Jack of all trades, master of none." I enjoy, in no particular order: running, reading, photography, tennis, volunteering, sewing, road trips, live music, my dog Cadence, and napping.
I would say my dream is being realized. In the 20+ years I've lived here, I've not seen the changes, growth and expansion I've seen in the last couple of years. While the traffic can be a bit out of control at times, there is more innovation, collaboration and excitement than ever! Most importantly, the growth also means that more smart, engaged people are at the table figuring out how we can take better care of those less fortunate in our community.
United Way is a catalyst for change in our community. It's also a safe place to land for so many. While United Way addresses emergent needs, they also have an eye on the future and are making Larimer County the best it can be for all of our citizens.
