Make A Difference Day is a nationwide day of doing good but is celebrated for a full week of October in Larimer County because of its popularity and continued success. For the last 18 years, United Way of Larimer County has organized the event for our area, and Make A Difference Day is the largest volunteer service event in Northern Colorado.
CSU Students Volunteer at Redeemer Community Garden for Make a Difference Day 2016
This past October, 1,300 volunteers lent their heart, time, and muscle to complete volunteer projects throughout Larimer County. Projects ranged from food sorting, to painting fences and interiors or raking leaves, to decorating the Gardens at Spring Creek with holiday lights, or even putting together treat bags for Treatsylvania at the Lee Martinez Farm for Halloween. All told, volunteers provided approximately 5,087 hours of service. The estimated value for one hour of volunteer service in 2016 was $23.56 (this has already risen to $24.14 in 2017), according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. When translated into dollar impact, 2016 Make A Difference Day volunteers in Larimer County invested $119,849.72 back into the community. Wow! Thanks for everyone who volunteered. We're looking forward to seeing you again this year!
