"WomenGive has been incredibly supportive to me in other less expected ways [aside from the scholarship]. Handwritten cards of encouragement often come in the mail and truly lift my spirits and help me to feel cared for and less alone on this path." -Ani, Scholarship Recipient
"WomenGive not only helps with the childcare costs, they have also given me inspiration. In the middle of the semester they sent a card in the mail that had a message of motivation. As a single mom, that is much needed and appreciated." - Brandee, Scholarship Recipient
The WomenGive Connections Committee are the ladies who write notes of inspiration, congratulations, and encouragement to scholarship recipients, and they take their job very seriously. These ladies know how special receiving a card is in their own lives and that receiving a handmade card makes it even more special.
With that in mind, committee members brainstormed ideas on how to make it happen. As luck would have it one of the members was “one of those people”, crafty and artistic and a pro at hand making cards.
They made the idea a reality and a group of talented ladies met to make cards for the WomenGive Connections Committee. Cathy Brown and Michele Marquitz, committee co-chairs, hosted the group who each brought their materials, equipment and ideas to provide the makings for 10 custom cards each. It was a fun afternoon of creative sprits with all kinds of original ideas. The talented group included Michelle Provaznik, DeAnna Hill, and Bobbi Mollohan. The following week, committee members assembled the final cards. Once again, this was an enjoyable afternoon as Michele, Cathy, and Susan Bricker assembled 40 cards.
With the successful first session under their belts, the committee is inspired to make more handmade cards for WomenGive recipients.
How YouCan Help:
The WomenGive Connections Committee is looking for a group of women to make Mother's Day cards for scholarship recipients. They would love to work around any schedules and hold the events at their houses or yours to produce about 50 Mother's Day Cards.
Special thanks to all the women on the Connections Committee and to those who helped make the cards. Your support is helping single mothers build brighter futures for their families right here in Larimer County.
