I'm proud to be a 4th generation Colorado lawyer. I practice law with Gast Johnson & Muffly, PC in downtown Fort Collins focusing on real estate, business, banking and estate planning.
Bev ventured west from Ohio in 1979, broke her leg skiing and quickly discovered Colorado was the place for her. She recently retired from the Lincoln Center where she was the Financial Coordinator for 24 years.
Bev and I moved to Fort Collins after getting married in 1981. We have two sons (Charlie, now 31, and Shaeffer, now 29), both happily married, and one grandson (Caleb - not yet 2). Our sons take great pride in seeing that we experience our fair share of adventure, including skiing the steepest, deepest untracked powder they can find.
My passion runs to legal aid and access to justice - helping people who are most in need get a fair shake in our legal system. I've had the honor of chairing the Legal Aid Foundation of Colorado, the Colorado Lawyers Trust Account Foundation and our local Access to Justice Committee - all terrific organizations working hard to narrow the justice gap.
Bev's passion is fueled by her own life experience as a breast cancer survivor and focuses on helping others who are battling breast cancer.
Our hobbies include almost anything that involves being outdoors in the mountains - mountain biking, hiking, skiing, fly fishing and, at the end of the day, soaking in an alpenglow sunset.
Its people who, collectively, create a thoughtful, engaged and remarkably caring community.
We've been donors since 1982. I had the good fortune to serve on the Fort Collins Area United Way Board from 1991-1998, including serving as Board President from 1996-1997.
United Way provides critical support to our front-line human service organizations in meeting the most immediate needs. Beyond that, what we find particularly compelling is United Way's leadership role as a convener, coordinator, collaborator and proactive problem solver in tackling the long-term challenges of reducing poverty in our community.
