Join us to celebrate National Volunteer Month! We have a number of specific events listed below, as well as general volunteer projects here.
United Way of Larimer County is partnering with Thompson School District and the Thompson Education Foundation to strengthen our community through a special day of giving! Volunteers are needed to assist at more than 30 school locations in support of this important fundraising event. Click here to learn more.
Join Front Range Community College for Social Responsibility Week as they engage students with issues and topics relating to sustainability, community service and pride in our campus. United Way of Larimer County representatives will be on site outside of the Longs Peak Student Center from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Fort Collins' annual Project Homeless Connect will take place on Friday, April 13 from 8:00 a.m. to noon at the Northside Aztlan Community Center. The event offers a variety of free services designed to help those in need with everything from transportation to medical services. Participants are paired with a volunteer who can help them navigate the event. Services include everything from haircuts to employment services and housing information to bus passes. Project Homeless Connect is hosted by Bohemian Foundation, Homeless Gear and the Murphy Center and Colorado State University Student Leadership, Involvement and Community Engagement (SLiCE), with support from United Way of Larimer County.
Recognizing the value of volunteers, the City of Fort Collins will take time to thank and celebrate its more than 8,000 volunteers the week of April 15-21. The City will offer a lineup of free activities including a free day at the Museum of Discovery, a tour of the Timberline Recycling Center and more. United Way of Larimer County partners with Colorado State University Student Leadership, Involvement and Community Engagement (SLiCE) to engage local students with volunteer opportunities in the community. Click here to learn more about this important event.
Join United Way partners Boys & Girls Club of Larimer County and Anheuser-Busch on April 21 when the Denver Broncos travel north as a part of their Broncos Fit initiative and host their first 2018 Broncos 7K Series & Salute to Fans Rally in Fort Collins. Participants in the 7K will start the run/walk at the Budweiser Brewery Experience and make their way around the grounds of the iconic Anheuser-Busch brewery. Proceeds from the event will support the Boys & Girls Club of Larimer County. The deadline to volunteer has passed, but you can register to participate here.
Since 2001, Comcast NBCUniversal employees – along with their families and friends and nonprofit partners – have turned out to beautify neighborhoods, spruce up schools, plant trees, stock food banks and much more. United Way of Larimer County is proud to partners with Comcast employees in our community for their annual Comcast Cares Day, which is the nation’s largest single-day corporate volunteer event.
Join the Sustainable Living Association for a free event from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Civic Center Park in Fort Collins for a combination of activities and events for the entire family, featuring informational booths and displays, arts and crafts, live music, speakers, local food and a beer garden. Participants are encouraged to bring a non-perishable item for the Food Bank for Larimer County. Visit www.sustainablelivingassociation.org to learn more.
Volunteers of America will host an open house from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at 405 Canyon Avenue in Fort Collins. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to give tours and provide more information about available programs. Attendees will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a unique oil painting by Jeanne Mackenzie. The event will also feature refreshments and a scavenger hunt too!
Wrap up the month by joining United Way of Larimer County, the City of Fort Collins and Volunteers of America for a National Volunteer Month Celebration! The Fort Collins Lions Club will provide a complimentary pancake breakfast, and the program will feature an address from Fort Collins Mayor Wade Troxell. United Way of Larimer County will also present its Volunteer Hero Awards. Additionally, following the breakfast, participate in one of three break-out sessions including a Board Bank training, the “Multiplicitous Benefits of Volunteering” and a service project along the Poudre River.
