I am the United Way 2-1-1 Program Supervisor and have worked for United Way for the past 10 years. I am passionate about helping people and working in a place where I can contribute to making our community a better place for all to live. I am the motheroffive children and have three beautiful grandchildren.
I was invited to a WomenGive luncheon by a co-worker, and I held back tears through most of the program. As a former single mother, the struggle that single parents face is still fresh in my heart. When I became a single mom of five young kids, I was fortunate to already have a college degree. Even then, it was still very difficult to make it on my own, and I was helped and supported by many community agencies. Now I am in a better place, so I want to pay it forward by helping women facing the same struggles.
I have been a WomenGive member since 2012.
I love hearing the success stories from the WomenGive participants. I also love that the scholarships for childcare allow the women to stay in school, making an investment in their future and the future of their children.
If you want to give to something where you can see the long lasting results of your gift, then WomenGive is perfect for you!
The most rewarding part about being a member of WomenGive is knowing that I am able to join with other women to make a difference in lives of women and children in my community. WomenGive doesn't just provide scholarships for childcare so single mothers can finish school. It provides so much more, like an opportunity for these mothers to show their children the importance of education, hard work, and perseverance. It provides encouragement and affirmation to single moms that they cansucceed, and they are going to make it!
