Driving past their facility on Drake Road, one might be able to determine from the tell-tale greenhouses that the Cargill facility in Fort Collins is a center for research and development of next-generation canola oils. What may not be so apparent is the amount of support that the employees at Cargill Specialty Seeds and Oils Innovation Center provide for United Way of Larimer County.
Members of the Cargill Cares team invited United Way representatives in to speak about our mission and included a guest speaker who talked specifically about our Colorado Reading Corps program. They then treated employees to a nacho bar.
The group was also able to utilize a portion of their budget to provide amazing incentives for employees who donated to United Way, including a PS4 gaming system, FitBits, an electric smoker and a GoPro camera. Those who turned in their pledges earlier in the campaign were given additional drawing tickets. Participating employees then could use their tickets to “bet” on their favorite item. Some wagered their tickets on their most coveted item, while some calculated the best odds of winning. All in all, 10 lucky folks went home with prizes for their support of United Way.
The careful planning on behalf of the campaign organizers resulted in a 75 percent increase in the number of donors as well as a 26 percent increase in the overall campaign total.
