United Way of Larimer County annually awards the Top Contributor Travelling Trophy to the workplace campaign generating the most revenue in support of United Way's mission. However, this trophy has gotten rather cozy in the lobby at Intel.
Intel's Fort Collins Design Center (FCDC), established in 2005, engineers, designs and delivers high-performance Intel® Itanium® microprocessors that are used in enterprise-class servers and high-performance technical computing. Intel has been United Way of Larimer County's Top Contributor since the FCDC opened in 2005, generating more than $10.3 million in support of United Way's work to reduce poverty by helping local children and families succeed from cradle to career and beyond.
Intel's campaign committee, led by coordinator Tamara Wesley, begins meeting months in advance of their October campaign, setting a new goal for the year as well as making plans for weekly emails, giving incentives and events. Just prior to the beginning of the campaign, Intel volunteers and United Way employees place campaign materials, a letter from Intel leadership and goodies on the chair of every employee, ensuring that everyone is familiar with the work of United Way and Intel's generous support.
Through a kick-off event, a luncheon for Loyal Contributors and Leadership donors, a bowling tourney and a thank you event, the campaign committee continues to engage nearly 200 donors. To keep the campaign fresh year after year, the committee comes up with a new theme annually and implements various volunteer activities.
They've even incorporated friendly competition from other workplace campaigns in the community, challenging The Group, Inc. to a fundraising contest and helping to organize the annual Softball for a Cause fundraising event. The team from Intel won this competition in August.
Intel is a global corporation, with key facilities in eight states. Employees across these campuses take pride in supporting local schools, non profits and educational math and science-based programs.
Many thanks to the Intel Corporation and its employees for their outstanding support of United Way! For more information about Intel, visit www.intel.com.
