After his wife fell ill, “David” fell behind on his utility payments. He needed to keep the lights and water on, but didn't know where to turn. David called United Way 2-1-1 and was referred to community resources to help pay his utility bill. But the story doesn't end there.
A few weeks later, a 2-1-1 Community Specialist followed up with David to make sure he got the help he needed. During the follow-up, David expressed that he was overwhelmed with many other concerns, including his rent payment, transportation, and medical coverage. The specially trained 2-1-1 Community Specialist got David's permission to serve as his advocate with other community programs. Soon, David was getting help from the Aging and Disability Resource Center, Aspen Club, and SAINT to address his concerns. All of these doors opened for David and his wife to find stability again because of one call to United Way 2-1-1.
Thanks to your support of United Way and our 2-1-1 program, thousands of people in Larimer County get connected to the help they need. 2-1-1's unique follow-up and advocacy processes ensure that David and many others don't fall through the cracks.
