We grow to give.
Otter Products gives back to the community through our OtterCares Foundation, whose mission is “Championing innovative education that inspires youth to become entrepreneurs and philanthropists who create lasting and impactful change in their communities.”
The OtterCares Foundation motivates employee volunteerism though the organization of group projects, promotion of community volunteer opportunities, and encouragement of skills-based volunteering. Alongside our staff, we have a dedicated group of 75 employee supporters called OtterCares Ambassadors who work to champion volunteering and community engagement within our departments. Whenever possible, OtterCares encourages volunteer projects and activities that relate to our mission.
Engaging employees in work that contributes to our mission is a primary focus of the OtterCares Foundation. We believe that everyone has something to give and we encourage our employees to give back not only by volunteering, but though any of the “Three Ts” - time, talent or treasure.
In 2016 we really focused on growing our skill-based volunteer program and formalized a process for this for the first time. We believe businesses have tremendous skill sets from their employees that can be shared with nonprofits in our communities to create greater social impact, and we have made a significant effort to increase this type of volunteerism in our employee base.
In 2016 hundreds of Otter Products employees volunteered with Junior Achievement to deliver programs about entrepreneurship to students throughout Northern Colorado (and in California where our other office is located). We were honored to receive national recognition from Junior Achievement for our support of their organization and we are thrilled to continue a partnership with them that allows us to share important concepts with the business leaders of tomorrow.
Employees volunteer each year with hundreds of different organizations in Larimer County and nationally in other locations where Otter Products has offices. We focus a large portion of our volunteerism on organizations that support the mission, placing many volunteers in our local school districts and partnering with Junior Achievement to provide more entrepreneurial education to students.
