As donors increasingly seek out third-party information on nonprofits prior to giving, it is important that local organizations place an emphasis on nonprofit management including governance, financial responsibility, and oversight. Beginning in 2020, all nonprofits receiving funding from United Way of Larimer County will be required to carry a third-party chairty accreditation. One such accreditation is the BBB Charity Accreditation, which evaluates charities that solicit for funds in Northern Colorado against a comprehensive set of standards developed by the BBB Wise Giving Alliance.
The Better Business Bureau (BBB) Charity Accreditation, a program of the BBB Center for Nonprofit Excellence, helps donors make informed giving decisions and promotes high standards of conduct among organizations that solicit contributions from the public. According to a 2017 Nielsen study, 73% of people who knew BBB reported on charities said they are more likely to donate to nonprofits that display the BBB Charity Seal. To utilize the benefits of BBB Charity Accreditation, nonprofits must meet our 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
This breakfast event will introduce you to the BBB standards and educate you on the process of becoming BBB accredited as well as the benefits that come with it.
