At this year’s WomenGive Luncheon, we celebrated ten years of women empowering women to succeed. If you weren’t able to attend or if you want to relive some of the brightest moments, below are seven highlights from the luncheon.
Nearly 1,000 people attended the Tenth Annual WomenGive Luncheon – that’s a 900% increase since the very first luncheon in 2006. Be sure to check out the photos below!
"This has grown to be a phenomenal event for Larimer County. I am proud to be part of such a strong network for helping women and their families in the NOCO area. It really changes lives!!" - Luncheon attendee
Since its inception, WomenGive members have invested $2 million toward the mission of helping women break the cycle of poverty. This is an incredible testament to the generosity of our community, but what’s even more incredible is the return we’ve seen on this investment.
Over the past 10 years WomenGive's helped 88 single mothers graduate with an associates or bachelors degree. Because of her degree, each one of these graduates earns, on average, $23,000 more per year. That’s well over $2 million invested back into our community each year.
In the past, WomenGive has honored a philanthropist from our membership who has made a significant contribution of her time, talent, and treasure to the advancement of women and children in our community. This year, we decided to honor 75 women instead of just 1. These 75 women have been WomenGive Members since the start, and collectively have invested over $375,000 toward helping single mothers reach their full potential. These Charter Members were honored as our Philanthropist of the Decade.
We unveiled this year’s WomenGive video. Take a look to see how WomenGive directly impacts the lives of Brandee and Rebecca and their kids right here in Larimer County – even right down to some encouraging cards!
“I knew if WomenGive would give me a chance, I wouldn’t waste the opportunity.” - Rachael, WomenGive Recipient
We were honored to hear Rachael’s story. Rachael is currently a WomenGive recipient and has had to overcome a lot of challenges to be able to pursue her degree. With the help of the WomenGive Childcare Scholarship, Rachael is on her way to graduate with a degree in criminal justice.
“Because of the financial support from WomenGive, I will be a graduate!” - Lisa, Soon-To-Be WomenGive Graduate
Lisa is raising three daughters on her own. By spending long hours studying and doing homework, she is setting a good example for her girls as she is nearing completion of her Bachelors of Social Work degree this spring. She hopes that because of her example, her daughters will work hard to obtain their own degrees one day.
We’re thrilled to announce that preliminary results from this year’s event indicate that we raised over $130,000 for single mothers and their children in our community. At just over 500 members, WomenGive is a dynamic network of passionate individuals who use their financial resources to better our community. Special thank you to everyone who attended and who gave generously to make this happen!
This year’s Luncheon was made possible thanks to WomenGive Mission Sponsors: UC Health, The Group Real Estate, and The Donnan Charitable Foundation.
