Let's start with exactly what the Larimer County Special Needs Registry is:
The Larimer County Special Needs Registry is a secure online database containing information about individuals living in Larimer County with special needs who might require extra assistance, were resources available, in the event of a disaster.
The Special Needs Registry is designed to help older adults and people living with disabilities evaluate what their needs might be in the event of a disaster and plan accordingly.
Recently, the Special Needs Registry was used during disasters like the High Park Fire and the widespread flooding of 2013. The Larimer County Sheriff's Office was able to see if any of the registrants were in the evacuation zones and attempt to contact them to see if they needed assistance evacuating.
Participation in the Special Needs Registry is free of charge and completely voluntary. The information it contains is secure and confidential.
