By the Numbers:
What is your company's mission?
HP is a technology company operating in more than 170 countries around the world. Our vision is to create technology that makes life better for everyone, everywhere — every person, every organization, and every community around the globe. This motivates us — inspires us — to do what we do. To make what we make. To invent, and to reinvent. To engineer experiences that amaze. We won’t stop pushing ahead, because you won’t stop pushing ahead. You’re reinventing how you work. How you play. How you live. With our technology, you’ll reinvent your world.
What is your company's community mission?
HP seeks to be a worldwide leader in enhancing the quality of life in communities where we live and work. A key element of that goal is our commitment to employee community involvement. We want to encourage employees to become involved in areas where they believe they can make the most significant positive impact, both individually and as a company. For HP, community is not just local community but global community as well.
Tell us about your company's Employee Volunteer Program.
HP encourages employees to volunteer because it raises employee productivity by refreshing their enthusiasm about their careers and the education systems that enable their careers. HP allows 4 hours of paid time off (PTO) each month for employees to volunteer in their communities.
Why does your company volunteer?
Through community involvement, HP employees have an opportunity to grow their own skills, strengthen ties with the community, deepen relationships with other HP employees and make positive social impact in the world while broadening their horizons. Good citizenship is good business. We live up to our responsibility to society by being an economic, intellectual, and social asset to each country and community in which we do business.
What was your biggest volunteer accomplishment in 2015?
Over 300 HPI and HPE employees volunteered more than 1300 hours during United Way’s National Volunteer month in April and Make a Difference Day in October.
Do you have a story you would like to share?
In October for Make a Difference Day, several HP employees volunteered for Mulberry Community Gardens to help further their mission to educate and engage the community through hands-on organic gardening opportunities and to practice and promote a “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” philosophy. Volunteers built a structure surrounding the Garden’s patio, which is a stage for local musicians and a gathering space for the Fort Collins community. Volunteers also prepped the garden beds and compost system, planted winter vegetables, built new wheels for a chicken coop, painted, and helped with other projects around the garden. An HP employee helped plan and lead the project through United Way’s Volunteer Project Leader program for 44 employees, who collectively volunteered over 200 hours of service in one day.
Where did you help in 2015?
HP employees volunteered with thousands of organizations worldwide in 2015. HP has over 75,000 NGO’s and nonprofits they donate time and money to each year. All 75,000 organizations fall into one of our primary categories of education, sustainability, entrepreneurship, health, and community involvement.
In Larimer County, HP employees volunteered with numerous organizations, including City of Fort Collins, Elderhaus Adult Day Programs, ChildSafe Colorado, Meals on Wheels Inc. for Loveland and Berthoud Colorado, Mulberry Community Gardens, Fort Collins Community Action Network, Easter Seals Colorado, House of Neighborly Service, Northern Colorado Shares, Food Bank of Larimer County, Poudre River Public Library District, Habitat for Humanity, Larimer County Department of Natural Resources, United Way of Larimer County, Project Self-Sufficiency, The Family Center/La Familia, and many more.
