Headwaters Realty's mission is improving our local community through providing education, support, and value.
We do this by providing education, support, and value to our clients through the home buying or selling process; to our agents through our exemplary mentorship program; and to nonprofits through our community engagement volunteer projects.
The Headwaters Realty volunteer program began in June 2014. We have two main focus areas: education and the environment. As a company, we organize four volunteer projects per year that fit into one of the above focus areas. We invite our past and present clients, friends, and families to join us at our volunteer projects.
We are committed to making our volunteering efforts an integral part of how we do business. A portion of all commissions goes toward our community engagement projects. We hire agents who also believe in this mission and each agent organizes one volunteer project per year with the local nonprofit of their choice.
We believe that by volunteering and giving back to the community, we have the ability to affect change and improve where we live, work, and play.
We increased the number of volunteer opportunities for our agents this year. We organized 5 volunteer projects (3 of which were just for Headwaters Realty agents). This increase in the number of volunteer project only for the agents, helped them to get to know each other better. Through talking to one of our agents at a project we learned that he is an artist!Because of this volunteer project, we had our Holiday Party and final volunteer project of the year at the LoCo Artisan Coffee House where his art is being displayed.
We worked with Shepardson Elementary School for Engineering Week for the first time this year. We helped K-3rd graders solder tiny components that turned toothbrushes into robots! Most of the Headwaters Realty volunteers had never soldered before. They loved learning how to solder and helping these young students to learn too.
The students loved the project and it was amazing to see how their eyes lit up once they turned their toothbrush robots on for the first time! Once the robots were assembled, we then helped the students race them. This was such a fun and inspiring experience that we are looking to volunteer with Shepardson Elementary in 2019 as well!
