We have lived in Northern Colorado since the 1970s, and got married in 1983 at the CSU Chapel on the Oval. Laurie is the Senior Vice President of Burns Marketing and has worked there over 28 years. Kelly is a Senior Sales Manager for Martin Marietta and has worked there nearly 35 years (through several acquisitions). We have two grown sons, Kyle (married to Emily) and Adam, and two grandkids, Harper and Corbin.
What are you passionate about?
We love being involved in the community and helping others. We have helped locally by serving on boards and committees, donating to charities (and United Way!) and have also been very active in helping a specific Kenyan tribe of women and children who have escaped domestic violence to get access to education. Laurie has been on the board of directors for PVH & MCR for over 10 years and the new UCHealth System board since inception over three years ago.
What are your hobbies?
We love to travel, ski, camp, hike, walk, go to movies and read.
What is your dream for Larimer County?
Balanced growth such that the jobs and economy can support a safe, sound infrastructure, solid education, beautiful recreational opportunities, and a family-oriented, outdoor lifestyle.
How long have you been a United Way donor?
Since 1990. Laurie served on the board of directors for eight years in the 1990s.
Why do you choose to support your community through United Way?
With the focus on outcomes and tackling poverty, I feel that the United Way experts can distribute the funding the most effectively.
Anything else you’d like to add?
We have three dogs: Julie, Lisa and Suzy. (Some of our dearly departed dogs were Kevin, Steve, Dave and Bruce)
Thanks to Laurie and Kelly and thousands of donors like them, we are helping local children and families create a future filled with promise and opportunity.
