As a part of National Volunteer Month, volunteers across the county were invited to indulge in a pancake breakfast and be recognized for their outstanding commitment to our community.
United Way of Larimer County, the City of Fort Collins and Volunteers of America hosted this celebratory event. More than 120 people attended, making it the largest Pancake Breakfast to date. The Lions Club graciously prepared and provided pancakes and sausage, Noosa Yogurt provided their local delicacy and Human Bean providing coffee for the morning.
After breakfast, the program began with speaker Annie Davies, the CEO of United Way of Larimer County. She expressed how proud and thankful she was for this community and the importance of its volunteers. After, Mayor Troxwell emphasized how he continually values collaborative communities and volunteerism.
Finally, awards were given to the stand up and stand-out volunteers within the community in five separate categories:
Youth - Monica Kosmos with Respite Care, Melissa Ochs with Poudre River Library District and Sadie Forkner with United Way of Larimer County
Dynamic Duo - Mark and Adri Magnuson with CASA
Family - The Fromm Family with United Way of Larimer County
Dedicated Senior - Ann Dimond with Fort Collins Senior Center
Young Professional - Kindra Weisbrod with Foothills Unitarian Church
City of Fort Collins Lifetime Achievement award - Linda Maher
After the ceremony, many at the event branched out for a fun and rewarding volunteer activity. Andrew Davies of Volunteers of America, hosted a short seminar about what it means to volunteer, and the City of Fort Collins hosted a trail clean up along the Poudre River.
Thank you to everyone who attended this event, as this means you support our mission in strengthening our community. This event would not have been possible without our sponsors, including:
