Did you miss the 11th Annual WomenGive Luncheon, or interested in seeing some of the highlights? We are excited to see how WomenGive has grown each year, and are eager to share the success of this year's Luncheon!
At the 11th Annual WomenGive Luncheon, we had a gracious 93 table hosts, which is a record, host a table and invited many colleagues and friends.
“Our table hosts are the amazing women who share WomenGive’s message with our community, and this year they went above and beyond to help us celebrate our program’s success,” said Kim Winger, Milestone Member and Co-Chair of WomenGive.
Shawna Lyons, who will be WomenGive’s 100th graduate in May from Colorado State University will receive her diploma and be recognized for all her hard work. She shared her personal story with the audience as well, and even made them laugh quite a bit with her light sense of humor, but impactful storytelling. She shared her ups and downs the past seven years, but that it was all worth it to her, especially though the help of WomenGive.
“This is what really got me. There were people who didn’t know me that were giving money, they were sending me notes, they were checking on me, and they have decided that without knowing a thing about me, that I was worth investing in. The support of people I didn’t even know actually turned out to be the support that made me continue,” said Lyons.
Diana, representing WomenGive mission sponsor, The Group Real Estate Inc., shared her success story of wanting to better herself after a divorce and taking care of her three daughters, and her motivation to move out of her parents’ basement.
“I always strive to teach my daughters the importance of hard work and the importance of paying it forward. I am proud to say all three of them have grown up to be successful young women,” said Luthi.
Her daughters attended the luncheon as well to celebrate the many success stories because of WomenGive.
Danette is a recent graduate of Colorado State University and majored in Environmental Health and Safety. She was welcomed to the stage to talk about her life story, and the impact WomenGive had in her life. Danette joined the program in 2014. Because of WomenGive, she got to hear her daughters first words, teach her songs, and watch her grow.
“Today, I stand before you an educated, empowered, humbled woman because of the women who sit among you. I received encouragement in the form of phone calls and notes, I received questions about how I was doing, and I received the confidence of the women in this room that I aspire to be like,” said French.
WomenGive provides funding to the Women's Foundation of Colorado annually, and at the luncheon it was announced that WomenGive has given over $400,000 to support public policy work, the research, and lobbying.
"Because of their support, we've achieved key victories for women and children at the statewide level," said Lauren Casteel, representative from the Women's Foundation of Colorado.
A special thank you to WomenGive’s mission sponsors: UCHealth which was represented by Amy Kolczak, The Group Real Estate Inc. represented by Diana Luthi, and The Donnan Charitable Foundation, which was represented by Marcia Donnan. Because of your generosity, you made this Luncheon possible along with spreading the positive word of WomenGive and its success in Larimer County. Also a big thank you to Embassy Suites in Loveland for hosting this special event for the 6th year in a row. We appreciate all the hard work you put in before and after our event!
