United Way of Larimer County Earns 4-Star Rating from Charity Navigator
United Way of Larimer County has, for the 5th year in a row, been awarded the highest rating by Charity Navigator, the country's largest and most-utilized independent evaluator of charities.
The prestigious 4-star rating is given to nonprofits that practice exceptional governance, fiscal responsibility, accountability and transparency in fulfilling their mission. According to Charity Navigator, approximately 25% of the charities they evaluate have received the highest rating, indicating that United Way of Larimer County outperforms most other charities in America.
Charity Navigator works to help charitable givers make intelligent giving decisions by providing information on more than five thousand charities nationwide and by evaluating their financial health. It calculates each charity’s score based upon several broad criteria, including how much is spent per dollar raised, what percentage of funds goes to programs vs. administrative and fund-raising expenses, and the organization’s long-term financial health. It then assigns a rating from one to four, with four being the best rating.
“United Way of Larimer County is committed to using our financial resources wisely and to the best benefit of our community,” said Gordan Thibedeau, President & CEO of United Way of Larimer County. “Donors are demanding more accountability from the charities they choose to support with their hard-earned dollars. Our donors are instrumental to our work and we appreciate the trust they put in United Way.”
Based on information provided in IRS form 990, Charity Navigator analyzed UWLC’s performance in seven financial metrics: program expenses, administrative expenses, fundraising expenses, fundraising efficiency, primary revenue growth, program expenses growth, and working capital ratio. It also evaluated the organization in several accountability and transparency performance metrics, giving the United Way of Larimer County an overall rating of 95.47 on a scale of 0-100.
