Generation United Partner Update: Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County
Planning is underway for Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County's annual college visits! With the generous support of Generation United, Boys & Girls Club youth are able to visit select colleges in the Spring. Ashley Prow, education director at the Loveland Boys & Girls Club, encourages teen Club members to dream big when it comes post-graduation plans. Students who participate in the trip meet established attendance goals, participate in Club activities, work to keep their grades up and demonstrate good character and citizenship.
To help students start the school year off on the right foot, Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County hosted the annual “I Can Achieve” rally in September, where students heard from a current college student and former Boys & Girls Club participant, Austin, who shared words of encouragement. Students then took a pledge to strive to do their best in school.
Additionally, dollars raised through Generation United helped support a local college night on Jan. 16th where Aims Community College, Colorado State University, Front Range Community College and University of Northern Colorado distributed information and talked with 20 students and their families. Collegeincolorado.comalso presented information about financial aid at college night.
