At United Way of Larimer County, we believe family financial stability unlocks potential and strengthens our community. When families thrive, Larimer County thrives.

But too many families are struggling. 1 in 3 households in Larimer County cannot consistently afford basic needs, making financial instability a widespread and urgent issue.

That’s why today, January 15, we’re proud to release the Colorado ALICE Report—a statewide initiative powered by the United Way Network and made possible by the generous support of Ent Credit Union.

This report compiles public data to shed light on hardworking families who are Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE)—earning above the federal poverty line yet finding that the cost of living outpaces their wages.

ALICE families are essential workers—educators, healthcare providers, and small business employees—whose contributions are vital to our community.

In Larimer County:

🏠 23% of households are ALICE—living above the federal poverty level yet unable to meet basic needs.

📉 12% of families live below the poverty line.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 20% of families with children fall below the ALICE threshold.

Why It Matters:

Traditional poverty measures overlook too many families. The ALICE Report’s Survivability Index provides a more accurate view of the true cost of living in Larimer County—helping us design more impactful solutions.

How We Use ALICE Data:

ALICE insights power programs like WomenRise, our cash assistance program for single moms. By using ALICE thresholds—not outdated federal poverty measures—to determine eligibility we ensure our programs meet families where they are.

With this data, we:

✅ Design programs that reflect real-life living costs.

✅ Direct resources to where they’re needed most.

✅ Collaborate on solutions for financial security.
